Sony has announced that PlayStation 4 will be on sale in the United Kingdom on November 29th for £349 and in the United States for $399. The new console is $100 cheaper compared to Microsoft’s Xbox One. With more than one million pre-orders, Sony computer entertainment chief executive Andrew House said that the “response is nothing short of incredible” during a conference in Germany.
Sony unveiled PlayStation 4 in June during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. The black PS4 comes with DualShock 4 controller, 8GB of memory, motion sensor bar, and touchpad. Extra controllers are available for additional £54.
Gaming experts say that Sony’s announcement of PS4 release date may be taken advantage by main rival Microsoft, which hasn’t announced the Xbox release date.
Seth Barton of Expert Reviews said: “From Microsoft's point of view it looks pretty good.”
Adding: “I think Microsoft will probably want to get in first and launch a week or two before Sony just to claw back a bit of an edge.
“If you've got a PS4 pre-order you will definitely get one for Christmas, but if you haven't then that boat has sailed and you haven't got a hope of getting one, and then you might end up getting a Microsoft instead.”
