Plan for 5G Mast Outside Primary School
EE Ltd and Hutchison UK to build a 20-metre 5G phone mast outside Birtenshaw Hall School if plans push through.
23:17 17 June 2021
EE Ltd and Hutchison UK have officially submitted proposals to build a 5G phone mast on Darwen Road, Bromley Cross. If approved, the 20-metre pole will be built directly outside Birtenshaw Hall School, which caters to children and young people aged three to 19 years old with special educational needs and disabilities.
In the application document, the firms gave details of why they chose the site. They stated: “The location has been identified as being necessary for EE Ltd business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements."
“The identification of this location follows pre- application discussion with your department, and we now make a formal application to you as planning authority.
“Birtenshaw Hall School is in close proximity to the site and has been notified prior to submission.”
The document added that the proposed site at Darwen Road is a replacement site. This is due to the nearby Holland Nursery telegraph pole site being redeveloped so that equipment urgently needs replacing.
A public consultation is now underway and residents are encouraged to raise their concerns to Bolton Council by July 6.
