Peterhead CCTV Cameras
Peterhead Business Improvement District to get CCTV cameras.
10:50 28 May 2019
Aberdeenshire Council has awarded Peterhead BID £79,000 funding for new CCTV cameras following the submission of a petition signed by more than 800 individuals.
Peterhead businessman and Rediscover Peterhead board member Gilbert Burnett, who handed the petition to the council, said that, while the town wanted to see a greater police presence, “the public feel that CCTV will help achieve that”.
The funding comes from the £3.8million allocation from the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund to drive local economic activity and stimulate growth.
Key town centres which could benefit from the fund include Banff, Banchory, Ellon, Huntly, Inverurie, Fraserburgh, Macduff, Portlethen, Peterhead, Turriff, Stonehaven and Westhill.
