Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has been arrested for possession of heroin, it has been reported.
The singer was taken into custody shortly after appearing in court on other charges.
Doherty had narrowly escaped a jail sentence for the at Gloucester Crown Court after admitting careless and drink driving following a gig in the city in June.
He was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £2,050.
However, he was then escorted across the road by officers to the police station on suspicion of possession of an illegal substance.
A Gloucester police spokesperson confirmed: "The 30-year-old man from Wiltshire arrested in Gloucester yesterday has been charged with possession of heroin.
"He was bailed to appear at Gloucester Magistrates Court on January 27."
Doherty has previously been involved in other drug offences and was jailed in 2008 for breaching the terms of his probation.
