Spanish film stars Penelope Cruz and Jarvier Bardem have announced that they are expecting their first child.

The acting couple, who both have won Oscars in recent years for their supporting performances in Hollywood films, started their relationship in 2007.

Cruz's PR agency stated that the 36-year-old, who is currently filming the fourth movie in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise, is four-and-a-half months pregnant.

Cruz married her 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' co-star Bardem, 41, in a small ceremony in the Bahamas.

The couple first met each other when filming Bigas Luna's "Jamon, Jamon" in 1992 when they starred opposite each other as lusty teenagers.

They worked together again for Woody Allen's aforementioned crtically acclaimed 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' which secured Cruz the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2009.

Bardem's Oscar glory came for his portrayal of a vicious killer in the Coen Brothers' 'No Country For Old Men' in the previous year. He has recently won rave reviews for his work in 'Biutiful'.
