Peaches' extreme diet
Star causes uproar over her 'disordered eating'...
12:21 14 December 2011
Recently engaged Peaches Geldof has sparked controversy after speaking out about her fad diet.
The star has recently been pictured looking frail and gaunt, causing speculation about drug abuse earlier in the year.
However, the one-time TV presenter has put these rumours to rest with what seems like an equally scandalous story.
Peaches has admitted that she eats no solid food, just liquefied vegetables for an entire month in a bid to lose weight quickly.
She raved about the diet, bragging that she is able to lose ten pounds if she wants to by using the dangerous method.
The already slim star told The Sun:
"You juice vegetables and then you drink it three times a day. It’s gross. I do it usually for about a month. I have no willpower but with the juicing I’m like, ‘I have to do it because I have to lose this extra ten pounds.'"
The daughter of music veteran Bob Geldof is estimated to have lost one and half stone in just three months and although she claims she still "eats like a horse" she admits that she, like many other women, feels pressure to be thin:
"If you open any high-fashion magazine, the girls in it are stick-thin and then theyÂ’ve been airbrushed down to the point where itÂ’s just ludicrousness."
A spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association commented on Peaches' extreme eating, saying:
"It is what kills anorexics. It is a stupid approach and it is irresponsible to promote this sort of disordered eating."
