Paris and Nicole in movie battle
Film
13:30 02 August 2005
Sparring socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie will go head-to-head when their new movies are released on the same day.
The ex-best friends will battle it out at the box office when Paris's 'National Lampoon's Pledge This!' and Nicole's 'Kids In America' both hit cinema screens on November 4.
'Kids In America' producer Andrew Shaifer claims he set the movie's release date four months ago and suspects 'Pledge This' bosses picked the same date for maximum publicity.
He told America's New York Post newspaper: "It is obvious something is going on. My feeling is this was done on purpose."
However, Andrew - who also stars in the film - says he is confident Nicole's film will triumph, because he thought Paris was terrible in her last movie, 'House of Wax'.
He said: "I am glad we have Nicole in our movie. After seeing 'House of Wax,' we obviously got the better actress."
Meanwhile, Paris's spokesperson claims 'Pledge This!' has not been given a release date yet.
The 'Simple Life' co-stars fell out earlier this year - purportedly after Nicole put on Paris's infamous sex tape at a party.
But they may have to set aside their differences for the upcoming series of their reality show, which they are contracted to shoot.
