The sight of Paddy smooching Viv is apparently too much for most Emmerdale viewers - and TV bosses are scrapping the story.
The pair have shared many a passionate clinch in the village, but the sight of the portly vet and the man-eating middle-aged woman getting it on is a major turn-off for fans.
Marlon catches them in the surgery and makes them promise to stop seeing one another, but their passion is just too strong and they can't contain themselves.
But it seems they will have to as TV bosses have decided that the candle Viv, played by Deena Payne, holds for Paddy is too far-fetched, the Daily Star reports.
This leaves poor Paddy, played by Dominic Brunt, back in his sex-starved marriage, while Viv is set to get closer to her ex-husband Bob.
She and Bob, played by Tony Audenshaw, are both miserable when their divorce finally comes through and it could be that the end of her affair with Paddy marks a new era for the couple.
"The affair is set to peter out. It hasn't worked in storyline terms as far as the viewers are concerned," a soap insider told the newspaper.
"Most complainants think it's a real turn-off."
