Oscar Pistorius attended court for a pre-trial hearing

The athlete Oscar Pistorius has attended court in Pretoria, South Africa, for a pre-trial hearing. This is in regards to the death of his girlfriend.

 

Oscar Pistorius, who is 26 years old, is charged with premeditated murder following the death of his partner Reeva Steenkamp on 14^th February, 2013.

 

The South African athlete denies committing murder. It is understood he has said he thought Reeva was an intruder in his home.

 

According to reports, his hearing will now be expected to take place in August this year. Oscar Pistorius’ bail has been prolonged until then.

 

This comes after the conditions of his bail were altered in March this year. His arrest came in February.

 

Oscar Pistorius, referred to by many as Blade Runner, is a double amputee athlete. Both of his legs were removed below the knee when he was a baby.

 

The South African competed at London 2012. He claimed gold at the Paralympics last year.
