OnePlus Gears Up for 5G Smartphone

OnePlus gears up to release the first 5G-ready smartphone.

OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has announced that they will be releasing a 5G phone next year at a conference in Hong Kong. It was at the same conference that Qualcomm, one of the major driving forces behind 5G, has confirmed that they are expecting at least two 5G flagship phones next year.

 

OnePlus has already been hinting for months that it has something planned for January, and many speculate that it could be the OnePlus 5G.

 

The Chinese company has a significant advantage over more traditional companies when it comes to adopting new tech early. It has a hardcore fan base who are willing to spend more if needed to get their hands on the newest and best of everything. And with some major capital behind it from strong sales (for a challenger brand) and recent high-street deals, OnePlus is one of the best placed to take the gamble.
