Hollywood actor Ryan O'Neal is to marry Farrah Fawcett, who is dying of cancer.

O'Neal told ABC News that his long-term partner has agreed to marry him as she fights the terminal disease.

The actor said in the interview with Barbara Walters: "I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed."

"I used to ask her to marry me all the time. But it just got to be a joke, you know."

He added that Fawcett is "fighting for her life" when describing her current health condition.

Fawcett was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2006. She had surgery to remove a tumour but the cancer returned.

The couple have a son together Redmond O'Neal, who is currently in jail, serving time for drugs possession. He has however been allowed out to visit his mother in hospital.
