Cyclist Victoria Pendleton wants to peddle her way to the dance floor on popular BBC1 show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, she told ITV1’s ‘Lorraine Show’.

 

The 31-year-old, who won gold in women’s keirin at London 2012 Olympics, admitted she would like glamour in her life now instead of the velodrome.

 

The track cycle competitor said being a contestant on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ would be a nice thought, now that she is planning her future, and she would be “very interested”.

 

"The idea of being very glamorous, it definitely appeals to me. After wearing Lycra suits and tracksuits for so long and not a lot of make-up I think, yeah, that would be good fun,” said Pendleton.

 

Following a retirement from her sport the Brit told The Independent: "So I'm going to have to do a lot of work experience I think, probably. Watch this space - maybe we'll find out what I'll do quite soon."

 

The celebrity dancers are being confirmed for this year’s series and it is understood they will be unveiled next month.

 

Rehearsals for the professional dancers in the BBC TV programme are believed to be taking place already.

 

Pendleton also took time to reflect on the pressures which she faced for the games, as quoted by The Telegraph.

 

She said: "Going into a home Olympics cycle as reigning Olympic champion is something I would not do again if you paid me. It's been really tough, you desperately want to do so well and perform on home turf."

 

The athlete also won a silver medal at the Olympic Games 2012.
