NYnet, a broadband firm owned and operated by North Yorkshire County Council, is providing broadband upgrades and support to vital health services as they tackle the coronavirus outbreak.
The firm is currently providing high-speed internet connections to more than 750 public sector sites. It is deeply committed to ensuring sufficient capacity at businesses and homes and meeting the growing demand for vastly increased levels of video conferencing and other virtual communications as many employees are forced to work from home.
NYnet is also offering 24/7 support to all health sector sites across the county, including same-day bandwidth upgrades for hospitals and GP surgeries, in some cases doubling the available bandwidth from 40Mbps to 80Mbps. It has also increased the county council's web capacity to support its work.
Richard Flinton, Chief Executive of North Yorkshire County Council, says the high quality of broadband service helps ensure that key services are delivered promptly and efficiently.
He said: "As they carry out their vital work, health services need to know they can rely on the systems they use and that, if there are problems, support will be there when they need it. The upgraded service being offered by the NYnet team provides an essential safety net."
