Nottinghamshire school children aged five to 11-years-old are invited to participate in a project that aims to name a forest ranger robot dog.
The dog-shaped, remote-controlled robot is currently being used to gather footage from unusually inaccessible areas to help monitor the health and condition of forests. Designed by Birmingham City University scientists, the forest ranger is part of a larger scheme that aims to introduce cutting-edge technology in the legendary Sherwood Forest area.
Keith Girling, chairman of the county council economic development and asset management committee, said: “The search is on to find the best name for this amazing robot dog.
“We are proud to launch the competition during COP26 fortnight as we want to highlight how important it is to protect these ancient woodlands so they can be enjoyed by families and visitors for generations to come.
“We can’t wait to hear your 'pawsome' suggestions. Get your entries in by Friday, December 10, with some great prizes on offer.”
