Nottinghamshire CCTV Vehicle Update
Nottinghamshire County Council unveils a second CCTV road safety car to prevent dangerous and inconsiderate parking outside schools.

Following a high demand for the first CCTV road safety car, Nottinghamshire County Council has unveiled as second car to help prevent dangerous and inconsiderate parking outside schools, which are a significant source of complaints and requests for parking enforcement.
According to latest figures, the first car has been used to issue 1,500 penalty charges notices to motorists since March 2016. Most violators were caught parking on keep clear markings outside school while others were caught parking illegally on bus stops.
Mr John Cottee, chairman of the council’s communities and place committee said: “This new vehicle is part of our commitment to road safety around schools in the county and will help to address this genuine problem of dangerous or inconsiderate parking in many areas around school drop off and pick up times.
“We are also releasing a series of video clips showing examples of the sort of dangerous and inconsiderate parking captured by the current CCTV vehicle in the last few weeks.”
Violators are charged £70 and all the money generated by council go directly towards paying the cost of the vehicle and ongoing running costs of the equipment, driver and software support.
