FUELlink Systems, a Bellshill-based fuel management firm, has signed a contract with Nottingham City Transport, to install innovative IoT devices, called VINI’ on Nottingham’s latest fleet of environmentally-friendly bio-gas buses.
VINIE, which was developed by FUELlink in partnership with CENSIS, the Scottish Innovation Centre for Sensor and Imaging System, can be attached on a dashboard and it will store information, including fuel usages and odometer readings. It can also detect fuel tank leakages. It is hoped that the new system will improve the efficiency of the bus fleet by lowing the time constraints of traditional manual duties, including refueling and depot management.
Craig Fleming, Senior Business Development Manager at CENSIS, says the contract with Nottingham City Transport “demonstrates the value in applying the IoT and sensor technology to business processes, allowing companies to run more efficiently.”
John Ashley, Director at FUELlink Systems reveals the company’s plan for its innovative system saying: “At the moment, we’re focused on introducing the product to local authorities, bus operators and haulage firms, but in the future, we hope to diversify and allow companies across industries to take advantage of VINIE’s versatile data monitoring and storage capabilities.”
