More than 95per cent of North Norfolk households now have access to faster broadband – thanks to the district council’s £1million investment into the Better Broadband initiative.
Working together with other district councils, Norfolk City Council has invested into increasing the coverage of high speed broadband across the county. The current fund included a £5.3million take-up rebate from the first Better Broadband contract in 2012.
Prior to the scheme, only 11per cent of North Norfolk properties had access to speed of 15Mbps. By the end of 2015, the number jumped to 74per cent. As of June 2019, the coverage had reached 95per cent.
Cllr Eric Seward, Deputy Leader of North Norfolk District Council and Portfolio Holder for Finance, said: "I am delighted that the Council's significant contribution to the programme is leading to much improved broadband connectivity in North Norfolk.
"This is important to the local economy as it will provide a resource for businesses and make information and shopping online more accessible to residents.
