About a month after Kim Jong-Un was re-elected as the North Korean leader following an internationally ridiculed ‘election’ (he was the only candidate), his government seems to have resorted to an elaborate execution to send out a public message.
According to reports, a North Korean official has been executed and was burned alive as part of a new round of bloody purges and that another 11 high-ranking government officials were either jailed or killed within the last week.
This is the second wave of sinister house cleaning following Kim Jong-un’s own uncle’s execution in December last year. His corpse was reportedly fed to the dogs.
Among those who were allegedly killed last weekend were all close supporters of the former Workers’ Party administrative chief Jang Song-thaek including Jang’s older sister, Kye-sun.
The only man who was allegedly burned alive was O Sang-hon, a senior figure in North Korea’s public security ministry who was accused of turning his department into a “personal protection squad” for Jang.
The Communist Party chief reportedly ordered executors to leave “no trace of him behind, down to the hair”.
