Country Life has published its Gentlemanly Commandments to make the launch of its Gentleman of the Year Award. The list was developed after consultation with authors, writers, journalists and famous celebrities.

He said: 'Courtesy costs nothing — rudeness is exorbitant and never forgotten.'
