After Asda, the UK’s second-largest supermarket chain, announced that it will no longer sell the console, Nintendo was once again faced with another set of bad news. Based on the company’s latest financial report, Wii U sales are down by 51per cent over the last three months. They only sold just 160,000 units between April and June.
Nintendo cited delayed development of new games for console as the reason for the sales drop. It added that forthcoming titles are expected to boost sales. The company has sold 3.61 million units so far.
It seems Wii U’s re-introduction of traditional controls did not make customers happy especially as the casual gaming market became more enamoured by mobile devices, it has been reported.
However, in spite WII’s sales drop, Nintendo is back in profit. It reported a net profit of £58million for the three months to June.
