New Knutsford’s CCTV contract
Knutsford’s CCTV contract renewed at £13k per year.
17:25 15 January 2018
Knutsford council will be paying £13,300 per year for the next three years to keep its CCTV services.
The decision to renew its contributions to the borough-wide scheme was not supported by other members of the council.
At Monday’s town council meeting, Cllr Stewart Gardiner said that it is not the town council’s responsibility to fund crime fighting. He said: “I have no doubt that there are benefits to the service. I question why should we pay for it? The police shouldn’t be coming round with begging bowls asking us to fund it.”
Meanwhile, Cllr Andrew Malloy said: “The police have said a number of times that this is about public safety. There is lots of technology here to help us.”
