Penrith Town Council has installed CCTV cameras after Christmas decorations were trashed.
Councillors confirmed that they have decided to make the move after Christmas angels which formed part of the town's Christmas decorations were vandalised.
A spokesperson from Penrith Town Council said: "Unfortunately the lovely Christmas Angels in Penrith have been vandalised. Cables have been cut and this weekend the head of one was broken off.
"This would probably mean someone climbing up.
"These angels cost £1,300 each and are funded by Penrith businesses. It is sad that individuals think that this sort of damage is acceptable behaviour.
"4K HD CCTV has been installed to keep watch and Penrith Business Improvement District will prosecute those responsible.
"Unfortunately there is no more money to repair them and if it happens again they will need to be removed and may not come back.
"Please look after and respect the Xmas decorations that are paid for by Penrith businesses and are organised and installed by volunteers."
