The local council has confirmed plans to install new CCTV cameras in Verdin Park after residents raised concerns over safety and anti-social behaviour.
Chris Shaw, town clerk, said: “This has been looked at for some time, as part of the consultation people wanted CCTV within Verdin Park, and especially now we have put the new cycleway in and the new play area.
“Discussions are now taking place with Cheshire West and Chester Council to have the cameras installed within Verdin Park as soon as possible.”
The council has secured a £4,000 grant from Cheshire's police and crime commission David Keane and will match-fund that amount to pay for the cameras.
Mr Keane said: “High quality CCTV plays a major role in helping to keep people safe.
“It provides a valuable resource for the police to investigate crime and can take the strain off overstretched police resources by acting as a deterrent to criminals.
“The cameras will also provide reassurance to the local community in Northwich and enable them to safely enjoy the new facilities in the park.”
