Javier Bardem has confirmed that he will play a villain in the next James Bond film.
The Spanish actor, who won an Oscar for his villainous role in No Country for Old Men, revealed the news in an interview with US show Nightline.
"I am very excited because my parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them,"he said. “So to play that is going to be fun.
"They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details."
The 23rd Bond film, widely rumoured to be called Skyfall, will see Daniel Craig return to play 007 for the third time, and will be directed by Oscar-winning director, Sam Mendes.
Dame Judi Dench will reprise her role as M, while Harry Potter co-stars Ralph Fiennes and Helen McCrory, have also been cast in new Bond adventure, which is slated for an October 2012 release.
Pirates of the Caribbean star Naomie Harris has been announced as Miss Moneypenny and French actress Berenice Marlohe will play the much-coveted Bond Girl role.
Bond himself, Daniel Craig recently spoke of his excitement about the new film, saying:
"I read the script the other day and I'm more excited about this than I was about Casino because we've kind of got a classic Bond movie plus lots of other things."
