Naturopathy is based on the belief of Natures Cure. The body when it is in perfect harmony has the ability to cure itself of illness.
This belief dates back to the time of Hippocrates in ancient Greece. Our natural state is capable of healing any maladies occurring in the body.
For this to happen the body must be bought into a state of balance. Naturopathy focuses on bringing about this state through lifestyle, exercise, healthy environment, emotional balance, fresh air, sunshine, nutritious food and rest.
Hence it is a drug-free way to health. Treatment involves looking at the person as a whole not just a part and producing health through natural means.
The Naturopath may include other natural techniques such as herbalism, reflexology, hydrotherapy, massage and colon hydrotherapy in the treatment.
Conditions that are successfully treated include:
- Digestive disorders
- Stress and anxiety
- Migraine and headaches
- Immune disorders
- Dermatological problems
- Fatigue
- Menstrual and hormonal problems
Modern research is constantly confirming the principles of Naturopathy. Medical literature acknowledges the importance of lifestyle and diet in specific disease development.
