Mobile phone users on pay-as-you-go plans will now be able to top up their mobile phone credit at Nationwide Building Society cash points.
Branch-based Nationwide ATM machines will allow Nationwide card holders to benefit from the new facility.
Card account holders from the Co-op Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest, Lloyds TSB and Allied Irish Bank will also be able to use the service at Nationwide cash points across the country.
Stuart Bernau, Nationwide's executive director, said: "There are 56 million active mobiles in the UK with 79 per cent of the adult population using one.
"With so many people using mobiles, we wanted to give consumers the opportunity to top up their phones 24 hours a day with no additional charge to that of the service provider."
A few non-branch based ATMs will also carry the facility.
Phones using the O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Virgin and Vodafone networks will be able to make use of the service.
