2018 was a stellar year for film with the likes of the Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, as expected all being big hits at the box office. 2019 is set to be no different, with several betting sites predicting Toy Story 4 to be one of the major successes of the year, following on from how well the previous three have done. Here we cover some of the must see movies set to be released in 2019.
Toy Story 4
The fourth instalment of the incredibly successful franchise comes as a bit of a surprise considering Toy Story 3 ended the trilogy on a perfect note. Each movie received high plaudits, so Pixar must have good reason to be coming back with another movie. The film is set to be released at the latter stages of the year, and is set to be one of the most anticipated animated movies of 2019. The movie is being directed by Josh Cooley, in what will be his feature length debut. It also is going to star Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts and Laurie Metcalf.
The Lion King
Another highly anticipated animated movie set to be released at the latter stages of 2019, is the Disney classic, The Lion King. Directed by Jon Favreau who was behind the hugely successful 2016 film, The Jungle Book, so big things are expected. It is already gathering huge plaudits from those who have seen sneak peeks of parts of the film. The movie also has a fantastic voice cast that includes Donald Glover, Beyoncé and James Earl.
Downton Abbey
The hugely successful hit period drama that follows the lives of a fictional Yorkshire estate comes to the big screen in September. It is being directed by Michael Engler, and will include many of the primary cast members that will star the likes of Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Imelda Staunton and Geraldine James.
It: Chapter Two
The second chapter of the newly adapted film, following on from the 2017 remake, that only told half of the original novel story. It is being directed by Andy Muschietti and will star Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader and Bill Skarsgard. This movie will take place 30 years later with a grown up cast and is expected to big a big hit.
