Music Award Success For Adele

Pop star Adele won the best British artist and best live performance at the second BBC Music Awards.

The BBC Music Awards have been dominated by Adele. The pop star, who did not make it to the event, won the best British artist and best live performance awards.

 

The singer sent a message saying: "That's amazing. I've only just put out new music. I'm so chuffed."

 

Meanwhile, the song of the year award was given to Irish singer Hozier for his dramatic ballad Take Me To Church while Taylor Swift won the best international artist prize.

 

Jack Garratt, on the other hand, was given the BBC Introducing Award. He said: "It's a weird feeling being validated for potential. A lot of these things are saying, 'you might be good next year' which is an incredible compliment to receive - but there's a certain pressure to it."

 

The show was opened by One Direction who played their number one hit Drag Me Down. Ellie Goulding also performed and played a sweeping, orchestral version of her 50 Shades of Grey them Love Me Like You Do.

 

Other performers included Little Mix, who played their single Black Magic, The Shires, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot. The show was closed by Rod Stewart with the songs Please and Sailing.
