The widow of tragic actress Brittany Murphy has been found dead, just five months after the '8 Mile' actress died in his arms after collapsing in the shower.

Hollywood screenwriter Simon Monjack was pronounced dead at the Hollywood Hills home the couple once shared, following frantic efforts to resuscitate him by the emergency services.

Monjack's death is currently unexplained and under investigation by the Los Angeles police department.

However, it has been reported in some publications that the 39-year-old writer suffered a fatal heart attack. Monjack had a history of heart problems.

Sergeant Louie Lozano told the LA Times that police responded to a 911 call from the home on Sunday evening seeking 'unspecified medical aid.'

Monjack's actress wife, 32, died at their home of cardiac arrest on December 20, while her mother phoned for help.

A large amount of prescription drugs were found in the home. However, at the time Monjack claimed that many of these were simply out of date medications.

He also attempted to block a post-mortem being carried out on her body stating that he couldn't bear knowing that his wife's body had been cut open. However, the coroner continued.

Eventually an inquest found that the 'Happy Feet' star died from pneumonia complicated by an iron deficiency, anaemia and multiple drug intoxication.

Coroners stated that she had gone into sudden cardiac arrest because of drug intake, classing her death as accidental.

Monjack was born in North London. He met the 'Clueless' actress through a friend, marrying shortly afterwards in Los Angeles in May 2007. Monjack worked on the script for 'Factory Girl' in 2006.
