Domino's Smart Technology App
Domino’s steps up tech ambition with smart-technology apps.
16:41 16 May 2017
Domino’s pizza has unveiled an IFTTT platform (If This, Then That) that allows users to download applets (small command-based apps) that could automate preparations for an incoming pizza order.
The free applets can turn off the Rachio Smart Sprinkler and turn on automated porch lights when Domino’s pizza goes out for delivery.
In a press release, Dennis Maloney, Domino's senior vice president and chief digital officer, said: ""We understand how much people love using Domino's Tracker, not only to know where their order is in the preparation and delivery process, but also to plan around that much-anticipated pizza arrival. And now we're empowering customers to unleash their imagination as they create new ways to integrate some of our favorite innovations, like Domino's Tracker, into their everyday lives."
The pizza chain’s YouTube page shows how IFTTT applets are used. Its tracker, which is part of the company’s online ordering system, allows customers to stay up-to-date on their pizza whereabouts.
The company’s IFTTT system is part of its increased focus on technology in recent years. Other changes include allowing customers to order pizza via smartphone app, text message, and voice command.
