21:42 16 October 2018
Council clerk Tracey Bell has provided a progress update on the installation of new CCTV cameras in Morpeth. Following a meeting with Northumbria Police, a wishlist of particular locations have been submitted during a meeting of the town council’s finance and general purpose committee.
Discussions about the wiring of CCTV cameras to lampposts and costings are now ongoing. Various companies that provide the systems have been contacted for quotes to help the council decide on how much fund to allocate on the project.
Meanwhile, town councillors in Ponteland have agreed to fund additional CCTV.
Extra cameras are set to be installed at Merton Hall and will cover the main park entrance.
Repairs have been carried out on the existing CCTV system and councillors have given the go signal to proceed with a maintenance agreement.
