Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you don’t want to look good, and if you look good you’ll feel good.

We live in the best time in all of history for anti-aging treatments, so there’s no shortage of options. You’ve probably seen the bombardment of advertising posted throughout the internet for one procedure or another, and it causes some overstimulation. Consequently, we’ve collected a list of some of the treatments known to be effective and used by many everyday people.
Topical Retinoids
Probably the least invasive anti-aging treatment is using retinoid creams for the benefit of your skin. Retinoid creams are essentially topical Vitamin A, and they can decrease the amount of time it takes for skin cells to repair. They will have some impact on wrinkling, but they require daily use to be effective. They will also increase your sensitivity to sunlight and UV rays, so wearing sunscreen is important with use. If you’re afraid of any medical treatments, topical retinoids can be a great starting point in preventing aging.
Botox
Botox has been around long enough that most people have at least heard of it by now. Even though most people relate botox to celebrities who want to look good, it’s used by everyday people, and it has medical uses as well. The professionals from this resource say that botox is a neurotoxin generated by a strain of bacteria known as Clostridium Botulinum. Botox that is injected underneath facial wrinkles paralyzes the muscle tissue and forces it to relax. This relaxation causes the surface of your skin to become smoother and have a younger appearance. Botox injections are not permanent contrary to popular belief, and they will only last for several months.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels use a variety of chemicals to remove the superficial layer of the skin. They fall into three categories, those being light, medium and deep, and they utilize different strengths of acids and chemicals depending on what you’re getting done. After this removal, your skin consists of fresh and healthy young new cells and could have a reduction in wrinkles. You may experience some facial swelling after some of the stronger procedures, talk to your dermatologist or plastic surgeon to find out if this anti-aging solution would be the option for you. You need to continue getting chemical peels to maintain the positive effect that they have on your skin.
Microdermabrasion
Another non-invasive procedure would be microdermabrasion, which helps remove the superficial layer of skin cells to produce a more youthful appearance. It’s not a miracle worker, but it can assist with fine lines and mild acne. The procedure combines suction with a brush coated with diamond fragments that cause micro-abrasions to exfoliate and rejuvenate skin. Like botox, these effects are not permanent and require continued use to keep the benefits.
There’s also a lengthy list involving what requirements you need to meet to get this procedure done from most facilities. For instance, you can’t be on Accutane or have active herpes, so make sure you check to see if you’re able to get this procedure done before making an appointment (many medical facilities will schedule a consultation session anyway).
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing involves laser facial surgery that breaks molecular bonds in the face. Because it involves the precision of a laser, a plastic surgeon can work in detail on specific areas of your face to create a better result. The procedure is effective in removing acne scars, and wrinkles from any cause from smoking to aging. There is a healing period of up to three weeks after the surgery, but the effects can last much longer than the other items on this list. You’ll likely keep the results for years after the procedure. There are some risks involved with the procedure, and they don’t put you to sleep (they use a local anesthetic, however). If you don’t want to be making continuous appointments, this is probably a surgery you’d be interested in.
Even though these items are intended for the treatment of aging that has already occurred, that doesn’t mean you can’t work on preventing further signs of aging as well. Wearing the appropriate amount of sunscreen is important, and quitting smoking or tanning beds will make your skin thank you. Be sure to moisturize daily, and drink your daily intake of water to boost your skin’s health. If you do end up using an anti-aging treatment, shop around and look for a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that you feel comfortable with. With all the improvements in modern medical technology, there’s no reason you can’t be looking good and feeling good too!
