Mobile CCTV Throughout Rotherham
All of Rotherham’s council districts to get own mobile CCTV camera.
17:40 06 August 2018
Every council district in Rotherham is set to get mobile CCTV camera as the council works on tackling anti-social behaviour across the town.
The project, which was planned jointly with South Yorkshire Police, aims to equip every neighbourhood with a camera, which can be easily be moved from one place to the next where problems are expected. The cameras will be maintained by South Yorkshire Police.
The council’s CCTV system will not be monitored from a control room but will be used as source of evidence after incidents occur. Thus, it will partly rely on residents reporting problems in areas being covered.
The cameras will be used on an “overt” basis, which means that they will be utilised to warn people that they are being watched to discourage anti-social behaviour.
