Midlands and East GP Practices Free Wifi

Over 800 GP practices across Midlands and East now offer free WiFi in NHS sites.

NHS England Midlands and East and NHS Digital, Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS Trusts have partnered to provide free WiFi service to over 800 GP practices across Midlands and East.

 

According to the West Bridgford Wire, the service is now being offered by 807 practices from 25 Clinical Commissioning Group across the East Midlands, West Midlands and East of England. The service, which is expected to benefit more than 6.8million patients while they are on NHS premises, can be used to register for GP online services, request repeat prescriptions, reschedule appointments online and even download healthcare apps.

 

Paul Fleming, regional head of digital technology at NHS England Midlands and East, said: “More and more GP surgeries are coming online with free wifi which is allowing improved access to health information, controlled by appropriate technology. Along with other developments, we have seen an increase in satisfaction for patients and reduced frustration and wasted time for practice staff.”
