Middleham Town Council Agrees to 5G Trial

Middleham Town Council to participate in the Mobile Access North Yorkshire 4G/5G national trial.

Middleham Town Council has agreed to participate in the 4G/5G national trial under the Mobile Access North Yorkshire project. The council responded to North Yorkshire County Council who was seeking local partners for the initiative that aims to deliver 5G technology to surrounding areas. 

 

The move follows a report suggesting that there was no scientific evidence from authoritative sources to prove that 5G infrastructures were harmful to health. 

 

The councillors have also made decisions on various projects requiring their approval. During the meeting, two councillors have confirmed that they have met with a grounds contractor who provided costing for substantially cutting down the hedges and clearing roots. It was agreed that the Plantations should be improved and the residents will be consulted before any further action is taken. 

 

The councillors have also discussed the government's proposal for reorganising local government, after district councillor Sue Fairhurst reported that Richmondshire District Council has opposed to the creation of one large unitary authority and closing down district councils. 

 

In regards to the development funds, the council has confirmed that the company which will build new houses behind St Alkelda's Road will make a financial contribution of £57,594 towards the enhancement of existing nearby children's play areas in Middleham and the linked footpaths. 

 

The council will tackle pending issues at the next meeting scheduled for 30 September and which will take place online.
