Mid Sussex Councils Enlist Digital Champions

Mid Sussex digital champions urged to volunteer to beat digital exclusion.

Mid Sussex District Council has partnered with Mid Sussex Voluntary Association and Balfour Beatty as it calls for digital champions to volunteer in a scheme that aims to beat digital exclusion. 

 

Digital champions would be called on to help other people become more tech savvy by teaching them how to stay safe online and how to use other features like video conferencing and sending emails. 

 

Ruth de Mierre, cabinet member for customer services, said: “We’re looking for champions to help people become more digitally literate.”

 

The council is reaching out to digital champions who are friendly, patient and have a knack for teaching. It is also important that they have empathy for problems that older people might face.
