Meningitis can lead to serious risks and complications unless spotted and treated early.
It's crucial for all parents to be aware of all the signs and symptoms and to know what to do to save their child's life, particularly if babies and toddlers are involved.
Meningitis is characterised by the inflammation of the lining around the brain and spinal cord. It could be deadly within hours and produce the following symptoms: fever, headache, vomiting and feeling unwell.
In adults and young children, symptoms also include confusion and irritability, severe muscle pain, and severe headache.
Experts say that Meningitis can worsen very quickly and it is important to keep checking the child and to get medical help promptly.
If you have had medical advice and are still worried, get medical help again as early diagnosis can be difficult.
