Iain Watters, a 31-year-old contestant on The Great British Bake Off, has been eliminated from the show following a dramatic meltdown and was eliminated.
He screamed in frustration after he walked up to the judges with a bin in his hand instead of pudding. Inside the bin was his ruined attempt at a Baked Alaska.
Following his meltdown, the show was hit by allegations of cheating after one of his rivals, Diana Bird, was spotted removing his pudding from the freezer moments before, effectively destroying the pudding.
One of the judges, 79-year-old Mary Berry, said his behaviour was unacceptable and refused to put him through to the next round.
Prior to the meltdown, the Irish construction engineer was very confident with his recipe – a chocolate black sesame seed and coffee caramel Baked Alaska.
A sheepish Mrs Bird tried to pin the blame on him, saying: ‘It’s here. Sorry Iain. Well you’ve got your own freezer haven’t you’.
Clearly furious, Mr Watters yelled back in frustration and exclaimed: ‘Why would you take it out of the freezer?’
In the end, Mr Watters apologised for his behaviour saying: ‘I threw it in the bin because I didn’t want to present it. I didn’t want them to judge the way it came out so I’d rather present nothing. I’m gutted. I had some issues with the ice cream and I let the frustration of that get the better of me.’
