Mel Gibson was recently accused by his stepmum, Teddy Gibson, of terrorizing her and pleaded for the court to issue a restraining order against the popular actor. The 78-year-old cited “acts of domestic violence” as a reason for his case. According to reports, the incidents in question refer to alleged verbal abuse.  

Teddy had wed Mel’s widowed dad John in 2001. Now, however, Mel’s father is divorcing her, and Teddy fears that Mel had poisoned his dad against her. Now, Teddy wants Mel to be barred from being within 100 yards of her. 

The Lethal Weapon actor, however, did not comment on the issue. 

According to court papers in Los Angeles, the actor, now 56,  “has sunken to new lows” perhaps referring to his previous run-ins with the authorities. In 2011, Mel was accused of battering his former girlfriend, which led to a complicated domestic violence case that, in turn, led to his arrest and a sentence of 36 months of probation and some fines. He also had to undergo 52 weeks of counseling and 16 hours of community service. Mel had also been arrested of drunk driving by a sheriff who accused the actor of retaliating against him.
