The original Star Wars Trilogy has been launched on DVD.

Star Wars fans have been racing to get their hands on a very special DVD box set.

The original trilogy that brought Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader to the big screen a quarter of a century ago is now available on DVD for the first time.

Certain to become a must-have for all serious Star Wars fans, the box set features digitally remastered special editions of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi along with a bonus disc.

The special features include stills, production notes, never-before-seen star interviews and a sneak preview of the final prequel, Revenge of the Sith, which is due for cinema release next summer.

Star Wars has become one of the most successful movie franchises of all time spawning billions of dollars in merchandise.

While some fans were disappointed with The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, George Lucas can do no wrong with his original three films.
