Matt Smith to leave Doctor Who in December
Matt Smith will retire as the Time Lord as he announced that he will retire from Doctor Who in December.

Matt Smith has announced his plan to leave Doctor Who at the end of the year. He is playing the role of Time Lord since 2010; the youngest to ever play the role. Matt’s exit will coincides with the show’s 50th anniversary in November when viewers can expect exciting episode.
In a statement, Smith said: “I'm incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day to realize all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience.
“Many of them have become good friends and I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.
“Your dedication is truly remarkable. Thank you so very much for supporting my incarnation of the Time Lord, number 11, who I might add is not done yet - I'm back for the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special... But when yagotta go, yagotta go..”
Smith’s first appeared in the show in the New Year’s Day episode in 2010.
Show runner Steven Moffat has nothing but praises for Smith. He said: “Every day, on every episode, in every set of rushes, Matt Smith surprised me. The way he'd turn a line, or spin on his heels, or make something funny, or out of nowhere make me cry - I just never knew what was coming next.”
