Marvel created a storm of debate as it revealed that Thor is a woman; a move that has rocked unsuspecting fans around the globe.
As Marvel tries to attract more women readers, it will make the hammer-wielding superhero appear in her more shapely form from October onwards.
Many fans questioned as to how the plot line will seamlessly allow Thor to transform into a blonde woman. Some speculate whether the “new” character could just be a long-lost relative.
However, Marvel editor Will Moss said: 'This new Thor isn't a temporary female substitute - she's now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!'
He added: 'The inscription on Thor's hammer reads "Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Well it's time to update that inscription.'
Many fans seem to be resistant to the change and have accused the comic book makers of taking feminism too far. However, some remained confident with Marvel’s move. McSullivan D'Ander posted on their Facebook page: 'Marvel Comics is not only going to attach boobs to Thor and start printing. There has to be an explanation.'
