CompTIA, a non-profit trade association for the global technology industry, has partnered with Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Digital Skills Partnership Lancashire, to launch an intensive four-week IT training course that aims to bridge the skill gap in Manchester.
The launch follows a report showing the growing number of vacancies in the tech sector. CompTIA’s goal is to encourage women, the disabled and those belonging to the BAME group to start a career in the digital sector.
Kerry Harrison, Lead for the Lancashire Digital Skills Partnership commented: “ Taking the first steps down a new career path can be daunting to a lot of people.
“We are pleased to be working with CompTIA and their Tech Discovery programme to give people in Lancashire and Greater Manchester the opportunity to gain the essential skills needed before pursuing a career in tech."
The course will be delivered via live online instructional classes by an expert CompTIA trainer. Successful participants will receive CertMaster learn and CertMaster Practice and will be provided with CompTIA Labs (cloud-powered virtual labs).
There are only 50 places available and the programme is searching for candidates who have both the motivation and desire to succeed. It encourages applications from women, disabled, neuro-diverse, and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates.
