29-year-old man tore a tendon in his thumb after playing Candy crush all day for six to eight weeks.
A report in the JAMA Internal Medicine says that the man complained about experiencing “chronic pain” in his left thumb and was unable to move it properly after playing the game on his smartphone. Following examinations, it was revealed that he had ruptured a tendon in his thumb and would require a surgery.
Because of this case, experts concluded that video games can numb pain that is why some people play excessively, becoming addicted or injuring themselves.
Dr Andrew Doan helped write the report and told Live Science: "We need to be aware that certain video games can act like digital painkillers."
