Maidstone CCTV Upgrade
Maidstone council proposes upgrading CCTV system with new high definition, WiFi enabled cameras.
16:13 01 May 2019
Maidstone council are looking at replacing thirty-two cameras across the County Town with a new high definition, WiFi enabled cameras. The council hopes to make crucial budget savings as CCTV cameras in Maidstone may no longer be watched round the clock by staff. Under the new proposals, camera data will be sent via WiFi to the council’s IT suite, where it can be downloaded when captured evidence is required.
The committee says this "future proofs the system so as not to limit the council’s options in the future should the budgetary position change due to external contributions; or an organisation puts forward a viable proposition that meets the Medium Term Financial Strategy".
