A maths trick, which has been around for years, has cropped up again on the social media platform, causing a bit of a rift among some people.
To try the trick, follow the simple six steps:
1. Ask the participant to write down their shoe size without telling you
2. Ask them to multiply that by five
3. Add 50
4. Multiply the number by 20
5. Add 1015
6. Finally, subtract the year of their birth
This will reveal a figure that will tell you the shoe size and age of the participant.
Some people were thoroughly amazed by the trick, like Peter Campbell who said: "What is this new witchcraft?" and Kanja Kamonye, who simply said: "mind=blown!"
But others were not so impressed, like Jon Williams, who said: "What's special about a maths trick that "guesses" your age and shoe size, when you have to reveal the year you were born and your shoe size?"
Former Countdown maths whizz Carol Vorderman is definitely a fan. She said: “I love this great little game. It’s simple algebra. It’s incredibly valuable because it takes GCSE maths and turns it into something fun.”
