Exploring other countries is certainly a great experience. You get to meet new people, experience different cultures, and do several things for the first time.
However, if you’ve travelled before, you know that no matter how hard you to try to ensure that everything would be perfect, some things just go wrong.
One of the most common problems that people travelling abroad experience is losing their valuables. These could be expensive gadgets, jewellry, or money. If this happens to you while abroad, here are the things that you need to do:
- First, you need to ensure that you have the right travel insurance even before you go. The policy must cover you against theft or lost of valuables.
- Next step is to call your insurer right away to report lost, damaged, or stolen items.
- If your valuables were stolen, file a police report. You also need to inform your tour operator and your hotel.
- Gather documents that your insurer will need to process your claim. These include receipts, photos of your lost valuables (if you have any), copy of police report, etc.
