UK-based Toothfairy, an award-winning app that solves the dental crisis that has worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic, has raised £3million in a seed funding round led by impact VC ADA Ventures and Slightshot. The funding round was also participated by All Iron, Haatch, Seedcamp, Ventures, angels from the Atomico Angel Programme and Angel Investor of the Year Deepali.
Based on research, nearly 19million dental appointments were missed during the pandemic. Toothfairy's app is designed to help patients get the dental care they need remotely using unique technology. The app connects patients to dentists on demand via a secure platform that can detect and track dental issues.
The firm was founded by Dr. Deepak Aulak and Dr. Kian Dhinsa, both graduates of King's College London.
Dr. Deepak Aulak commented: “From first hand experience as dentists, we’ve seen patients have to overcome many hurdles in servicing their oral health needs. We are developing proprietary AI and Image Recognition technology to empower patients. With so many dental diseases preventable we are pioneering a new way for patients to uptake dental treatments and see a dentist on demand through amazing technology.”
