Liverpool Tackle Rogue Gas Fitters

Liverpool to launch an initiative to tackle rogue gas fitters.

Liverpool City Council has partnered with Gas Tag, a pioneering tech company, to issue free gas safety technology to over 30,000 private rented homes. The initiative was announced at the start of the national Gas Safety Week with the goal to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances.

 

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said: “We’re pleased that Liverpool is the first council in the UK to spearhead this innovative partnership. Thanks to pioneering technology, we can help landlords improve the levels of safety within their property.”

 

The City Council hopes the initiative would minimise the number of cases of gas leaks, explosions, fires and even carbon monoxide poisoning and cut down on the 1.1million rouge jobs that are carried out by illegal gas fitters every year.
