Durham Council has confirmed move to return to live streaming of council meetings in response to new Covid guidance.
17:47 16 December 2021
Durham County Council, the largest council in the northeast, has confirmed that they are returning to live streaming of council meetings amid Covid concerns.
Under the new guidance published by the government, council meetings must still be held in person. However, strict infection control and health protocols must be observed. Attendees are required to wear face covering and observe social distancing and one-way systems at all times. Members of the public and councillors who are not members of the relevant committees are encouraged to watch remotely to reduce the risk of transmission.
From December 15, meetings will be broadcasted via the council's YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLO_fXoqQ9yDsZRKNd5bX9yvbxKe-mHj3W. Individuals who are interested in joining the meeting could get the instructions here:https://democracy.durham.gov.uk/mgCalendarMonthView.aspx?bcr=1. Members of the public and media must request in advance to attend an in-person meeting by emailing democraticservices@durham.gov.uk
A limited number of seats will be available at meetings and will be offered to those who are unable to watch online or have valid reasons to attend in person.
